Reflecta RPS 7200 vs Coolscan 4000 vs Epson 3200

Beitrag von bduplus »

Hello,

Firstly I'm sorry for my english on this german forum, but actually... my german is quite poor ;o).
So it's better for me if you can answer in english.

My question is :

I have an Epson 3200 Scanner which is quite good for A4 but not sharp enough for A3 or A3+.
So I am looking for a new scanner, only for Black & white 35mm negatives.
I use a lot of films per year so I need a scanner with the ability to scan automatically an entire roll of film.

1/ The Coolscan V can not do that, only the Coolscan 4000 ED with a special adpatator (Nikon SA-30)... it's very good quality (4000 dpi) but the price is quite expensive = about 1000 € (on ebay).

2/ What about the Reflecta RPS-7200 ??? It can scan an entire roll. The price is OK for me but I don't now the performnaces of the scanner... I have red the test on filmscanner but that's all...
Is it so good that you can print A3 with a 35mm film ? Is it easy ti use ? Does it work with vista ? Wich software do I need with it ?

Thanks a lot for your help.

This scanner is not very well known in France...

Hy Bryan, I don't have a Reflecta scanner, so I cannot give you these infos.
About the Nikon: I scanned more than 200 films, cutting them on filmpieces with 4-5 frames (fotos), after I have put these films in maps. This could be an option. If you want to keep your films as they are ... the Nikon V doesn't work, you need the 4000 or 5000 with adapter, and it will be expensive !

At the moment i compare slide scans of a Epson 3200 with scans from:

- Canon CanoScan 8600F
- Reflecta DigitDia 5000

First I was suprised how good the scans from the epson are. But if you go to 1:1 view you see that Canon and Reflecta have much more details.

I think the main problem with the Epson 3200 is the missing of ICE or FARE.

So if you scan negative film the Canon CanoScan 8800F may be a good and cheap solution. (The 8800F is the successor of the 8600F).

Hi, thanks for yours answers. I think that just a few people have tested both scanner : Coolscan 4000 ED and Reflecta RPS-7200.

Do you have any advice on this Reflecta Scanner ?
I am trying to know if it really good (A3+ possible) and easy to use...
