at ScanDig. It is in German but you might try to translate it with Google. The bottom line is that, according to Canon quoted in the report, the hardware of both scanners is the same. There is a difference in the software, which comes with the scanner, and in energy consumption. The mark II model has an energy saving mode.
An important point is the resolution. According to the test, it resolves only about 17% of the nominal quoted resolution, i.e. 1700 dpi instead of 9600dpi!
